When squirrels attack

So anyway life's been awesome down here at Purdue. I'm adapting to the whole college thing a lot better than I expected. I'm actually really enjoying it. Now that I have such long waits between classes it'd be sort of pointless to walk back to my dorm so I just take the time to do my homework right afterwards and relax. I've never really taken the time to just lay down in a patch of grass, listen to music, and watch the world go by before but it's really awesome. Classes are all right I guess math and chemistry are getting pretty hard already. My online chemistry homework was pretty nuts and my math teacher talks really fast with a lisp so it's hard to keep up. I'm gonna try to get involved in a few clubs down here like Catholics on campus and maybe jujitsu lessons. There's always something to do down here. Anyway there was this recent wave of killer squirrel attacks down here and I just can't figure it out. If the squirrels made it all the way down here what happened to all of the lemurs and the duckies? My best guess is that they finished each other off considering they're mortal enemies but who knows. Anyway I'll try to hold off the squirrels till the penguin forces arrive. Wish me luck till then.

Three Posts for the Price of One

Finally my internet is working. I've been keeping a bit of a journal since I got here since I didn't have anything better to do without the internet & all. Well here's what I've written thus far.

8/14/05 1:00pm (No internet yet)

Wow I’m surprised how easy it was to watch my parents drive away crying. I guess I’ve sort of been training all summer for this moment in a sense. I really haven’t spent much time with them at all the past few months. Anyway I just met my roommate & he seems sorta cool. He’s reading Harry Potter #5 right now just like I am, he brought down a chess set just like I did (however mine is infinitely cooler thnx Erin) & he’s into games like Warhammer 40k & Halo. I spent the night at Nat & Slack’s dorm last night and we just watched TV and played games all night (which is what I expected college to be like). Actually I feel sorta weird living nearly on my own. I feel just like I did at the St. Jude’s confirmation retreat or at camp Eberhart. The initial shock of leaving all my friends has passed and it’s actually pretty cool down here.

11:30pm (Still no internet)

Slack, Nat & I hunted down some of the Marian students at Purdue today. We successfully found Jessica Williamowski, Mel Harker (not a student here but she was helping move in Jessica), and Chelsea Sieradski after that we headed back to our dorms for the official start of the boiler gold rush. We broke into small groups & did icebreakers till we had to go to the auditorium. When the speeches were about to start it was really dark in the giant auditorium & when the rules displayed on a screen told everyone to turn off their cell phones everyone got theirs out and started waving it back and forth. It’s one of the coolest sites I’ve ever seen. There were 5,000 students in there and most of them were doing it. There was a sea of L.E.D. lights in the middle of a near pitch black room. After all of the boring speeches there was this stand up comedian who gave us a 30 minute speech. He was hilarious & he gave us an awesome message. You should check out his site it’s GotAloha.org.

8/15/05 4:30pm (No internet yet)

Well my internet connection was supposed to be up by now but sadly it isn’t. This morning we went to this open area (where I assume concerts will be held in the future) called Slater Hill. We watched the cheerleaders perform and we listened to a small band. The only really cool thing about all of that was when the band played enter sandman. Not only did it sound awesome but it also reminded me of home somehow. Later we went to the other building that we were at last night and listened to speeches. We did the whole L.E.D. thing again and somehow it just wasn’t as cool this time probably because it wasn’t random. We listened to yet another comedian who covered some of the serious issues like drugs and alcohol.

Well thats it for today my faithful viewers or readers or whatever the heck you people are. See all of ya in like 2-3 months or so.

T - 1 Week and Counting

It is decreed that Purdue shall rock. The campus is ginormous and there's always stuff to do. There's even an fnm "right down the hill from Purdue". Not only that but I get to come back and see everyone during all the breaks (Plus I'll see some of you during the Antioch retreats. Ben Modlin and I are going to both of em if we can since we're so close to Carmel). And after a few months away from everyone seeing all of you guys again will be all the sweeter.
In other news this week shall be as hectic as they come. Buying tons upon tons of school stuff, trying to brush up on my math & French, trying to hang out with friends as much as possible, and packing shall be at the top of the to-do-list. Oh awesome, I almost forgot that the 9th Edition boxen cometh today too. HOT DOG! For all of the magic literate out there that read this blog there shall be a draft this Wednesday (to the best of my knowledge). Oh and for everyone that I didn't tell already the last post was merely meant as a subliminal message. Read the first letter of each line and it should spell something (unless you're on Mozilla Firefox or your font size is weird cause then it doesn't always work).
